The NExT initiative, the team presents at the first meeting of the I-Sites in Biarritz

Thursday, March 8, the 9 I-sites met in Biarritz for the first national meeting. The opportunity to discuss the different approaches, the actions put in place, the report to the industrial world or the international approach

This day permited reminded of the objective of the I-site label and its attract to favorit and develop all forms of partnerships with the local actors and especially companies (read on AEF). A day resolutely turned towards times of exchanges through the testimonies of industrialists of large groups and SMEs. A first round table on the objectives and strategies to be implemented and developed between I-Sites and industrials allowed to hear the expectations of companies and their expectations vis-à-vis I-Sites. A second round table discussion on the international approach, axis of development essential to achieve excellence and compete with the best international universities (Details Program).

Testimony of Jean-Baptiste Avrillier, NExT Operational Director

This day has allowed very fruitful exchanges between officials of the 9 I-sites, but also with national officials (cabinet of the Minister, SGPI, CNRS, INSERM …). We were able to measure on this occasion how the I-site system is at the heart of the national innovation policy. I-sites are therefore highly anticipated for their ability to build and develop partnerships with companies on all aspects of their roadmap: partnership research programs, creation of new training paths, recruitment of doctoral students, etc. From this point of view, the I-site NExT has important assets to highlight, relying on a strong mobilization of the actors of the territory.

Testimony of Laure-Aline Vialle, NExT Innovation Project Manager

Throughout the day it has been demonstrated that, more than partners, companies, be they SMEs, ETI or large groups, must be an integral part of I-site projects to enable the effect leverage expected on the economic development of the territory. The organized exchanges allowed a crossed view on the actions carried out by each one. The result is actions common to all on research partnerships such as support for the establishment of joint laboratories and industrial chairs. An important point and confirmed by the testimony of industrialists present, is the simplification of the ecosystem and coherence of communication to connect academic research to the territory. This will be addressed in NExT through the Innovation Center, one of whose aims will be to simplify access to the skills of academic research, by offering a global offer and a common speech, easier to bring to companies.
